Accessibility Feedback

Post by Veretax » 2017.04.28 20:01:47 EDT

Hey Victor, long time no see :).

Strange that I'd happen to be around while you're working on putting a forum back up, or perhaps its not strange at all. In any case, one suggestion I would make, is the green font, I'd find one with a little more white space between characters On my screen it kind of squeezes together and becomes difficult to read and eye strain at 0% zoom in Chrome. Its worse on my larger monitor.

Just thought I'd leave that bit of feedback. I was concerned the color choices might not be good for someone with color blindness, but the tool I used to check with seems it might be okay. (you can take a look yourself: https://www.toptal.com/designers/colorfilter)

Let me know if you need anything tested, it is one of my skills.

-Tim

Welcome back. :) Yes, I just put this back up and I'm working on getting things looking civilized again. It will probably be awhile but your comments are always welcome.

If you're looking at this with wTcGreen, the text is a Google font called Teko which is very similar to the old Agency FB the Ghosts' site used. I will add some letter-spacing. Once I get the theme I'm building done I'll delete this one. The new one has bigger and easier to read font and the colors will be a bit different.

(edit) I just noticed you posted on the testing forum, which means you're looking at the in-progress one, wTcFresh. Yep, I've just got started on it so it won't look much like this at all. The color scheme will be similar to wTcGreen as it is now.

For color accessibility I threw this at it: http://paletton.com/#uid=51T0I1kw0jdo9r ... y4y4oODajv They have a color-blindness simulator and such on there. I applied some of the changes but it's definitely WIP (read: ugly as sin).

After Joe's colorful description of the default colors, which I completely agreed with, I disposed of "baby shit yellow" in favor of grays, and also increased the saturation of the oranges.

Code: Select all

.color-primary-0 { color: #999999; } /* Normal neutral color */
.color-primary-1 { color: #DADADA; } /* Highlight neutral color */
.color-primary-2 { color: #B8B8B8; } /* Bright neutral color */
.color-primary-3 { color: #757575; } /* Borders for neutral colors */
.color-primary-4 { color: #4A4A4A; } /* Backgrounds for neutral colors */
.color-secondary-1-0 { color: #67E300; }/* Normal link color */
.color-secondary-1-1 { color: #9CEA5C; } /* Highlight link color */
.color-secondary-1-2 { color: #84E533; } /* Bright link color */
.color-secondary-1-3 { color: #50B000; } /* Borders for link colors */
.color-secondary-1-4 { color: #3F8A00; } /* Backgrounds for link colors */
.color-secondary-2-0 { color: #FF9900; } /* Normal info color */
.color-secondary-2-1 { color: #FFCC33; } /* Highlight info color */
.color-secondary-2-2 { color: #FFCC00; } /* Bright info color */
.color-secondary-2-3 { color: #CC6600; } /* Borders for info colors */
.color-secondary-2-4 { color: #993300; } /* Backgrounds for info colors */

I presume you already fixed some of it because when I came back to reply it was starting to look a lot better. (the word subject on the post a reply page is kind of close together, so maybe not.)

Yep, I added the letter-spacing and it should be applying to everything. For the record, I am talking about wTcFresh, which is this: index.php?style=7 wTcGreen is a minimally-modified ne-blackgreen and is found here: index.php?style=3 but is going to go away once I get wTcFresh or it's successor running. What's up now is just a practice run to get myself familiar with 3.2 and unrust my HTML and CSS skills. I want to make a completely from-scratch theme because all the PHPBB 3.2 theme skeletons are nightmarish and converting a 3.1 is even more work. I miss my last one: http://f.tarazedi.com/

I do not intend to make a "mobile-ready" version at this time either; if you're on mobile you can pinch to get the needed size and when I do make a mobile version it's gonna be standalone rather than the ghastly "viewport" mess that current themes have.
